Users v. Members

There are three types of visitors to our web site, and are classified as Users, Members, and Directory Members. Any Visitor (User, Member or Directory Member) can access the site anytime and use the information posted to assist them in any way they choose. However, only Members (and Directory Members) are able to receive our newsletter, participate in our blog and receive special, discount coupons from time-to-time. As a Member, you have the option to sign up to be listed in our Directory or to post events in the Event Calendar. Becoming a Member is free and painless, so check it out by registering. Directory Member Registration

In the Member (My Account) section, Members can fill out a listing sign-up form for the AG web site. The sign up form will include fields for the service provider/business and contact information. Two pricing options are available for the businesses to choose from: Basic Listing and Basic Listing with Online Scheduling. Real-time credit card processing will be available as the payment option. Check or money order will also be payment options. As an Introduction to the Listing Options provided, a Member can sign up for the Directory Listing for a full year FREE trial. Two weeks prior to the trial period completion, the Member can decide which listings they wish to purchase or just let the Trial Listings lapse.

After a Member submits a registration form for a Listing, that information will be held in the AG admin area until approved by AlternativesGateway.com (allow up to one week). Anything that will be published to the site by a Directory Member will also require approval by AlternativesGateway.com. For reasons of protecting the integrity of the web site's content, No auto publishing is allowed.

Directory Listings

The AlternativesGateway.com directory is a dynamic, database-driven area of the web site in which health-oriented businesses and service providers can place information about their products or services in a directory. Included in the Directory Member Listing fee, Directory Members will periodically be listed on the Home Page as a "Featured Member", using a synopsis of the information provided by the Directory Member for their listing and directing the Users to the web site to more detailed information about the Directory Member.

The Directory is divided into five major categories of 1) Holistic & CAM; 2) Spirituality: 3) Green Living; 4) Conventional Medicine; and 5) Business Services, with many ensuing sub-categories associated with each of the major categories.  Members can suggest additional or other sub-categories by submitting them to us for consideration via Contact Us, with the names and the type of information contained for each. Each Directory Member will be able to select up to fifteen sub-categories to have their listing appear in. Each category will contain their listing information for viewers to see when they are searching the directory for specific services within a specified distance.

The main directory page for each sub-category will include titles and a link to each Member's details page, which will then provide:
  • A Logo, Photo (either or both/your choice if available)

  • General information and a Description of what you provide (bio, Massage Therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, BodyTalk, Acupuncture, Mental Health Counseling, Yoga, Hypnosis, fitness, salon, beauty/personal care, etc.), up to 500 words.

  • Contact information (Address, Telephone)*

  • Email link (email address)

  • Web address link (if you have one)
*A Googlemap link will be created using the physical address information you provide and made available to any user who sees you and clicks on your information.

Don't be concerned if your information is not as you would like it to be when you first sign up, as you will have the ability (yourself) to administer updates or changes to your information after approval to be in the Directory.

Online Scheduling (Option)

With the Online scheduling option, Users can view and then make appointments with the Directory Member online. A calendar view will display appointments that have already been made. When a User selects an appointment date, the user will then be required to submit a registration form to schedule the appointment. After a registration form has been submitted, an email notification will be sent to the Directory Member and the client to notify each of them of the desired scheduled appointment. The Directory Member will confirm the client's selection either via email or telephone that the appointment has been accepted.

Events Calendar Listings

In the Events Calendar section, Users will be able to view upcoming events and workshops. Members will be able to submit events and workshops to AlternativesGateway.com using an online form. The events and workshops will be automatically posted to the web site within seven days after submittal for approval.

Renewal of Listings

Directory Members will be able to renew (extend) the listing(s) for their account from their account admin area. An email notification will be sent to the Directory Member thirty days prior to the listing's expiration. Renewal of listings will accomplished via a credit card.
